In 1974 Jan Brodberg was kidnapped by Robert Berchtold, a friend of the family. Two years later Brodberg was kidnapped by Berchtold again. This remarkable true crime story  has spawned a number of books and documentaries. Now it has inspired the miniseries A Friend of the Family, starring Jack Lacy (The White Lotus), Colin Hanks (Fargo) and Mckenna Grace (The Handmaid's Tale).
